DIY: Tiered Jewelry Stand

Hello Hodgepodge-ians,
I know it has been oh so long but I have a great DIY project for you guys! Jewelry stands vary from $20-$50 at stores and I just cannot do that to myself. I would rather be spending my money on jewelry than the stand that holds them. This DIY project will cost you next to nothing! Most of these items you can find in your own house. You can really just go to your local thrift store and grab some cute plates and bowls you can find and create this stand. It really does not matter.

These are the following items you need:
Not all the items pictured above are for the Jewelry Stand! Please read the list.
  1. White Spray Paint - Walmart for $4.00 (This is a great investment I have many upcoming projects that involve white spray paint)
  2. Glue Gun - Walmart for $7.00 (I forgot to add that in the picture above)
  3. Larger Plate - Dollar tree for $1.00
  4. Smaller Bowl - Dollar tree for $1.00 (I chose this bowl because it had great engraving and I knew it would show up after spray paint.)
  5. A Candlestick Holder - Dollar tree for $1.00
  6. Rubbing Alcohol & Cottonballs (optional) just to clean the surfaces you are working with
When I was choosing my plates and bowls I made sure that the plate on the bottom was big and heavy enough to hold everything. (The bowl I used is made out of plastic and the candlestick holder and plate is made out of glass.) You want to make sure it is heavier toward the bottom of the stand so that it will not fall over.

Step One:
You can clean your plates, bowls, and candlestick holder with alcohol or water is fine. We just want the surfaces to be free from dirt so that we can start with a clean slate!
Step Two:
We are going to take the side of the candlestick holder that is going to be placed on the larger plate and squeeze glue on to the rim of the glass. We want to make sure that we put a decent amount of glue around the rim so that it does not slide around on the plate.
Step Three:
With the plate sitting upright we are going to carefully place the glued candlestick holder into the center of our plate. I just eyeballed it. Then press down firmly to make sure the candlestick holder is secure to the plate. You can play around with which side you want the candlestick holder to be facing I just chose this side because that was its' natural position. Personally after looking at my stand I would recommend putting the smaller stout of the holder onto the larger plate to create more storage room.
Step Four:
Now we are going to do the same thing but we are going to put glue on the top rim of the candlestick holder. Carefully place the smaller bowl onto the candlestick holder so that it is centered with everything else. You want to press firmly on the bowl so that the glue sets perfectly. You want to wait a couple minutes so that the glue can dry.
Step Five:
We spray painted this in our backyard with newspapers to make for an easier clean up. Just follow the directions on the spray paint bottle and this should take 20-30 minutes to dry. It all depends on how many coats of paint you need. We used about 2-3 coats. Make sure you get all the corners and edges.
P.S. Make sure you do not inhale the fumes because after this it made me a little bit light headed.

Step Six:
Voila! After it is done fully drying you have your own jewelry stand! You can place all your cute rings in the bowl and bracelets onto the plate. You can even use this as a nail polish or hair accessory holder.
I even bought extra bowls and spray painted them to add as cute storage and decorative pieces.
If you have any more DIY requests please just contact me. I hope you guys liked this super easy Jewelry Stand DIY project. I cannot wait to put these cute decorative pieces in my room and apartment.
